China-Oman Agree To Strengthen Strategic Partnership Following Political Advisor's Visit
China and Oman have agreed to boost their strategic partnership and carry out the mutually beneficial cooperation in different areas, according to the reports. This move comes after China's top political advisor Wang Yang visited Oman from November 13 to November 16. Wang is also the incumbent chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). During his visit to Oman, Wang met with Omani Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers Fahad Bin Mahmoud al-Said and conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's warm regards and best wishes to the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said.
China ready to work with Oman on BRI: Wang
He added that friendship and cooperation have always been the primary factors of the Sino-Oman relationship. Wang further added that the two leaders of the state in 2018 announced the establishment of China-Oman strategic partnership putting strong efforts into cooperation between the two countries in various fields. He said China is ready to work with Oman to enhance the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and 2040 vision of Oman to explore more cooperation and improve the quality and efficiency of bilateral cooperation. He further added that China backs Oman's efforts in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests and supports Oman is playing a major role in regional affairs.
Oman admires China's developments and achievements: Fahad
On the other hand, Fahad asked Wang to convey Sultan Qaboos' cordial regards to Xi. He said that Oman gives importance to advancing relations with China and admires China's developments and achievements. He expressed his concerns for more robust BRI cooperation. The Chinese government considers BRI a development strategy to strengthen its global influence through proper infrastructure development and investments in countries of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Wang said that China is ready to work with Oman on major projects under the BRI framework including infrastructure construction, industrial parks, energy and innovation expanding exchanges in culture, education and tourism and close coordination in international and regional affairs.
